Kyochon Chicken

Going out to eat fried chicken and drink beer or soju is one of the favorite activities of Koreans, really, for them it is a great plan. There are many places that specialize in this delicacy, but Kyochon Chicken is one of the most popular franchises and there are many who think that the best fried chicken in Seoul is eaten here : crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. They have several types: red (spicy), soy and garlic, honey... the portions are very large so it is best to order half of each type.

If you want to live the experience of having lunch or dinner in a typical "Korean bbq" we recommend you come here: it is a restaurant specialized in bbq and pork (they only have neck and bacon). You cook it yourself on a round grill that is on the table. The portions are 150gr and cost 14,000 KRW (about €10).

If you prefer beef, write down the name " Doma ", a restaurant in the Hongdae area specializing in beef barbecue . I did not go (I had to return early due to the Coronavirus), but I had it written down well since it has very good opinions. If you try it, tell us how it was!

Egg Drop

There are several "Egg Drop" places scattered around the city and I found it an excellent option if you want to have a big breakfast or something quick to eat. As the name suggests, here the king is the egg and they serve it with various ingredients, always inside a white bread sandwich . The truth is that it is very tasty and it is cheap! I tried the one with avocado and tomato and the one with bacon with scrambled eggs and cheese (both delicious!). Price: approx €3-4.

One of the most typical Korean dishes is bibimbap , which consists of a bowl of white rice accompanied by ingredients such as carrots, spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, marinated meat, and a fried egg. One of the best bibimbap in Seoul is eaten at this restaurant. Price: 15,000 KRW (€11 approx).

rolling dough

I discovered this small and pretty restaurant walking around the streets and as it was close to my accommodation I returned the next day. As you can guess it specializes in pasta (they also do pizzas) . I tried a carbonara that turned out to be a carbonata hehe as it had a lot of sauce. Maybe they'll take away my Italian passport but hey, I thought it was delicious and after so many days of soups and rice-based dishes, it tasted wonderful.

Hooked Poke

If you are tired of Korean food, another great option is to eat a Hawaiian poke in this tiny place, located at the end of an alley. You can choose your ingredients or opt for one of the pokes created by the owner, who by the way speaks great English. The portions are large, the ingredients are quality, and the packaging is eco-friendly.

The Halal Guys

Another alternative for those looking for a more “western” meal, although in this case we are traveling to the Middle East (or rather New York ). When I found out that there were Halal Guys in Seoul I couldn't resist the temptation and I went there for lunch one day XD The portions are smaller than the American ones (why isn't that strange?) but everything was super tasty, as if he had just eaten it on the streets of the big apple. I went to the Hongdae location (there are three in total), and ordered a coke (free refil), a portion of falafel, and a bowl of rice with mixed meat. Price: €11 to change.

Innisfree Green Cafe

Innisfree? But isn't that a Korean cosmetics brand ? Yes, but in the largest store in Myeongdong, on the top floor, is this charming cafeteria , where you can try one of the most cutting-edge desserts of the moment: fluffy pancakes . They are masterfully prepared and are worth as much as breakfast, brunch or snack, so you have no excuse. Be careful because the portion is huge. Price: 10,000 KRW (about €7).
